This as good a Hydrangea as they come, and is a strong grower producing large flat heads on a bushy plant. In our peat free mixes is produces lovely pink heads with fertile pink flowers surrounded by soft pink florets. However, in a lower pH it will produce the most wonderful blue heads hence it’s other trade name of H. ‘Blue Wave’. Either way it’s a belting shrub, that’s best in moist soil in semi-shade. Raised in France circa 1900.

Notes on Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas can famously change flower colour between blue and pink depending on the pH of the soil they are planted in. Therefore our plants may change when planted in your own garden. Our stock is grown in a peat free compost that has a slightly higher pH which produces pink flowers. To ensure pink flowers dress the soil with lime to raise the pH. If it’s blue flowers you want use Hydrangea colourant during the growing season.
